About the Position

We are looking for an experienced Law Clerk to join our Toronto Banking and Finance practices.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the Personal Property Security Act (PPSA) and other relevant statutes, regulations and compliance requirements as well as a grounding in secured lending and financing transactions. Working as part of our asset search law clerk group, you will support lawyers and clients with various aspects of commercial lending, secured financing and acquisition transactions.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct and summarize searches under the PPSA
• Coordinate due diligence searches to disclose registrations of security interests in personal property under the Bank Act and other relevant statutes
• Prepare and register security interests under the PPSA
• Prepare drafts of transaction documents relating to commercial lending and secured financing transactions

Qualifications

• Strong administrative and organizational skills
• Excellent client service and communication abilities
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
• Proficient in computer applications and legal databases
• Previous experience in a law firm as an asset clerk preferred
