Job Title: Assembler

Job Description

The Assembler completes mechanical sub-assemblies using blueprints, schematics, and work instructions, working primarily with basic hand and power tools. Approximately 80% of the role focuses on assembling frequently used parts, while the remaining time is dedicated to facilities maintenance tasks to keep the shop clean, organized, and running smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical sub-assemblies of frequently used parts following blueprints, schematics, and detailed work instructions.
• Use basic hand and power tools to assemble components accurately and efficiently.
• Verify that assemblies meet quality and specification requirements before moving to the next stage.
• Follow established procedures and safety guidelines while working with tools and equipment.
• Assist with facilities maintenance tasks, including emptying garbage, sweeping, and general shop cleanup.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 1 year of assembly experience in a mechanical or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency using basic hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and pliers.
• Experience using power tools safely and effectively in an assembly setting.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical assembly documentation.

Work Environment

The work takes place in a brand-new facility, approximately 1.5 years old, designed to feel more like a tech hub or laboratory than a traditional manufacturing plant. The space is extremely clean, bright, and open, with a strong emphasis on organization and shop upkeep. Work is performed using basic hand and power tools at assembly stations, following technical documentation and work instructions. Core working hours are between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., with the option to start as early as 6:00 a.m., providing some scheduling flexibility within the day.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kitchener, ON.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
