Job summary

Ontario Bar Association in London, Ontario seeks an Associate Lawyer in Labour & Employment with 0–2 years of experience. This role offers hands-on learning, mentorship, and exposure to a diverse range of matters in a collaborative setting.

You will work with experienced counsel to develop practical legal and advocacy skills, handling client meetings, negotiations, and a variety of employment law tasks within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Called to the Bar in Ontario and in good standing
• 0–2 years of experience as a lawyer, preferably with labour and employment focus
• Strong legal research, writing, drafting, and analytical skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Proactive, client-focused approach with initiative
• Ability to work collaboratively while progressively developing independence

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing labour and employment matters for employer clients
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, legal opinions, and written submissions
• Draft pleadings, employment contracts, workplace policies, and other legal documents
• Assist with litigation, tribunal proceedings, arbitrations, and other dispute resolution matters
• Provide practical and strategic legal advice to clients under supervision
• Participate in client meetings, negotiations, and advocacy matters
• Manage assigned files and deadlines with appropriate supervision and support
• Build and maintain strong client relationships while developing practical advocacy skills
