Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. seeks an ASIC Development Engineer in its Data Center Solutions group in Burnaby, Canada, to drive secure storage controller development from concept to production. You will collaborate with seasoned engineers in a fast-paced, learn-and-grow environment.

You will contribute to pre-silicon design, validation, and post-silicon bring-up while expanding your knowledge of SoC protocols and industry standards. A strong background in C++, Python, Verilog or VHDL is valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • 2+ years of relevant industry experience or a Master's degree.
  • Strong programming/scripting skills: C++, Python; Verilog/VHDL is an asset; PCIe knowledge is an asset.

Job Description

Microchip offers a comprehensive portfolio of semiconductor and system solutions for data center, communications, aerospace and defense, and industrial markets. Microchip’s Data Center Solutions Business Unit (DCS) offers industry-leading performance, reliability, and security for Smart Storage Controllers, RAID Controllers, SAS/SATA IO Controllers, SAS Expanders, PCIe Switches, and NVME Controllers.

As an ASIC development engineer in the Microchip Data Center Solutions group, you will get hands-on experience developing our next generation of storage and memory controller SOC products. This will involve taking a design from the initial concept to the production form. Throughout you will work beside experienced engineers and be exposed to Microchip’s Best-In-Class engineering practices. Working side-by-side with some of the brightest minds and most innovative people in the industry, you won't just fill a position, you will be given an opportunity to work on a team where your contributions matter. As an ASIC Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, verification, emulation, and/or validation of digital integrated circuits at the block level, top level, and/or solution level.   • Learning and dynamically applying knowledge of the SoC, protocols and standards
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • 2+ years of relevant industry experience or a Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • Strong programming/scripting skills, i.e., C++, Python
  • Excellent analytical, communication (written and verbal), and documentation skills
  • Excellent problem solving and debugging skills
  • Experience with Verilog and/or VHDL is an asset
  • Experience with the ASIC design and/or verification flow is an asset
  • Experience with PCIe protocols is an asset

We offer a total compensation package that ranks among the best in the industry. It consists of competitive base pay, restricted stock units, and quarterly bonus payments. Benefits of working at Microchip

The annual base salary range for this position is $76,000-$114,000.*
