Job summary

One Mission Society seeks an Asia Pacific Regional Theological Education Coordinator to champion theological education across the Asia Pacific region. This role involves supporting OMS-partner schools, collaborating with field leaders, and ensuring schools become self-supporting within their cultural contexts. Ideal candidates will have an MA or MDiv, cross-cultural ministry experience, and strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

Job description
Asia Pacific Regional Theological Education Coordinator

Be a champion for Theological Education (TE) in the Asia Pacific region (excluding India) by supporting and equipping OMS-partner schools, national partners, and missionaries. The primary goal is to support the theological education needs of OMS fields in the region. This role is supervised by the Regional Director and works closely with the OMS Director of Theological Education, field leaders, and other ministry leaders, who oversee ministry on the fields and support OMS-partner schools. The position is itinerant, ideally based in an Asia Pacific regional hub, but this is not essential.

  • Hong Kong
  • Japan
  • Central Asia
  • Myanmar
  • Philippines
  • South Asia
  • South Korea
  • South Pacific
  • Thailand
  • Taiwan
Requirements
  1. Work closely with the director of Theological Education and Regional Directors to support TE in the region.
  2. Collaborate with field leaders to address the TE needs of schools, partners, and missionaries.
  3. Stay informed about the needs, challenges, and opportunities of each OMS partner school.
  4. Visit each school regularly.
  5. Coordinate ongoing coaching for administrative, faculty, curriculum, and infrastructure development.
  6. Assist in accessing resources for teaching, governance, and development by coordinating with OMS departments and partners.
  7. Teach at partner schools as needed, ensuring cultural appropriateness.
  8. Support schools in becoming self-supporting and self-governing within their cultural and denominational contexts.
  9. Encourage adherence to Wesleyan ethos and OMS heritage.
  10. Assist in further training and advanced degrees for faculty and students.
  11. Advocate for OMS partner schools and keep their needs before the OMS community.
  12. Support national partners in training needs assessment and access.
  13. Provide coaching, support, and training to OMS missionaries.
  14. Perform other duties as discussed with the supervisor.
Skills and Education
  1. MA or MDiv required; Doctorate preferred.
  2. Cross-cultural ministry experience, preferably in Asia Pacific.
  3. Strong biblical doctrine and commitment to Wesleyan Holiness theology.
  4. Experience in classroom teaching and university/seminary administration.
  5. Pastoral experience.
  6. Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
  7. Ability to relate well with national and missionary leaders.
  8. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  9. Analytical skills to define issues and draw conclusions.
  10. Proficiency in at least one local language or commitment to acquire it.
