Job summary

MNP is seeking an Articling Accountant for Assurance & Accounting in Victoria, BC, for Winter 2028. The role focuses on applying Canadian accounting standards and working with clients to produce financial reporting and advisory insights.

You will develop technical skills across compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax, while supporting a diverse client base and collaborating with engagement teams. Travel flexibility is required as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration (accounting/finance major preferred).
• Pursuing CPA PEP prerequisites upon employment.
• Experience with accounting and tax software is considered an asset.
• Customer service or client service experience is considered an asset.
• Previous accounting-related office experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax.
• Develop and apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP and ASPE.
• Set-up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses, manage multiple files and conduct inventory counts.
• Perform accounts payable/receivable, asset acquisitions and payroll walkthroughs with clients.
• Summarize current financial status by preparing balance sheets and income statements.
• Assess appropriateness of audit evidence for expenses, revenues and asset additions.
• Review, investigate and correct discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries and reports.
• Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting to accounts.
• Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings.
• Collaborate with client engagement team and build relationships with client contacts.
• Contribute to development of new ideas and improve work processes using internal tools; travel as needed.
