Job summary

Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) Kingston is seeking an Arena Operator/Outdoor Facility Maintainer. You will maintain ice surfaces, dressing rooms and equipment, while also caring for surrounding outdoor facilities to keep them safe and inviting for CAF members and families.

The role requires a diploma in facility management or related field, CPR/First Aid, a valid ON driver’s licence, and ice technician certification.

Qualifications

• College diploma or certificate in Facility Management, Resource Management, or a related field.
• Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification.
• Valid Driver’s Licence (ON).
• Recreation Facilities Association Certified Ice Technician (ON).
• Experience operating ice rink and outdoor facilities equipment.
• Experience in resource administration.

Responsibilities

• Maintain ice rink daily, ensure dressing rooms are ready and equipment is organized.
• Maintain outdoor facilities and fields to ensure safety and usability (soccer, baseball, volleyball, splash park, playground).
• Greet visitors, manage access to facilities and answer inquiries.
• Patrol facilities to enforce rules and ensure safety for all visitors.
• Collaborate with team to deliver safe, high‑quality arena and outdoor facility experiences.

THE ROLE

As an Arena Operator/Outdoor Facility Maintainer with Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services, you will be part of a team proud to provide safe, quality arena and outdoor sports facilities to members of the Canadian Armed Forces community. You will take satisfaction seeing them at play and enjoying the facilities and get to experience the thrill of the cheering fans as you drive the Zamboni down the ice surface.

Daily, you will ensure the ice rink is maintained, dressing rooms are ready and equipment is organized and in proper working order. You will ensure outdoor facilities and sports fields are maintained and safe to use such as soccer fields, ball diamond, volleyball court, splash park, playground, etc. You will greet visitors, manage access to the facility and fields and answer customer inquiries. You will patrol the facility to ensure rules and regulations are being followed and equipment and facilities are safe for all those that visit.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

College diploma or certificate in Facility Management, Resource Management, or a related field and some years of experience in a related field

Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification

Valid Driver’s Licence (ON)

Recreation Facilities Association Certified Ice Technician (ON)

Experience

In operating and maintaining ice rink and outdoor sports facilities equipment

In resource administration

This is an on-site position with an assigned work location.

The anticipated term of this position is November 2026 - April 2027

This Category I unionized position is open to all interested parties. Preference will be granted in accordance with the Collective Agreement for the PSAC bargaining unit for NPF Category I employees at CFB Kingston.
