City of Owen Sound is seeking an Arena Labourer to support daily cleaning and maintenance of two recreation facilities. You will assist with event setup/teardown, on-ice duties during resurfacing, and provide excellent customer service to patrons.

This part-time position emphasizes safety, compliance, and strong interpersonal skills. The role requires flexible, independent work and will be supported by the City’s HR team.

Qualifications

  • Experience in municipal or public facility maintenance is an asset.
  • Certifications: First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, Fire Extinguisher training (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of facility operation regulations and compliance.
  • Basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical skills (an asset).
  • Proficient in time management and adaptable to varied tasks.

Join the City of Owen Sound team as an Arena Labourer. Contribute to the daily maintenance and cleanliness of our recreation facilities, ensuring a welcoming environment for all users. This position requires dedication to upholding high standards of safety and customer service. The position is expected to work between 8 and 16 hours per week. Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily cleaning and general maintenance of two recreation facilities.
  • Assist in event setup and teardown; ensure smooth operation of all events.
  • Assist with on-ice duties during resurfacing
  • Provide exceptional customer service to facility patrons.
  • Follow and enforce health and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
  • Experience:
  • Previous experience in facility maintenance, particularly in municipal or public settings, is an asset.
  • Certifications:
  • Standard First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, Fire Extinguisher training (or willingness to obtain).

Salary Range:

$20.90- $23.75 hourly
