Job summary

Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. is seeking an Area Geologist for its Calgary office to identify opportunities and optimize production within a defined area. You will integrate geologic interpretations with engineers and petrophysicists in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

The role requires a geology degree, 5+ years in petroleum geology, and a P.Geo designation with APEGA or eligibility. Proficiency with key software and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Geology with 5+ years of petroleum geology experience
• P.Geo designation with APEGA or eligible to register
• Excellent business aptitude and acumen
• Demonstrated problem solving, communication, organization, and team leadership skills
• Strong understanding of Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin stratigraphy and its clastic/carbonate depositional environments
• Experience planning and drilling horizontal wells
• Proficiency in geoscience software; Tableau and Power BI would be an asset

The Opportunity:

As the Area Geologist, you will be a key player in a dynamic and collaborative team of geoscientists and engineers, focused on optimizing and expanding production within a given area. You will use your proven experience of integrating geologic interpretations to develop current and future land bases, monitor competitor activity for new opportunities, and explore innovative technologies as they arise to unlock value for the company.

The successful candidate will be flexible, adaptable and capable of working in a high pace environment where multitasking different priorities is essential. As an energetic self-starter, you also have exceptional interpersonal/communication skills, a positive can-do attitude, enjoy a challenge and thrive in a team environment.

• Strong understanding of Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin stratigraphy and its clastic/carbonate depositional environments
• Experience planning and drilling horizontal wells
• Fluency in software such as AccuMap, GeoGraphix, Petrel, Starsteer, and Microsoft OfficeTableau and Power BI would be an asset
