Serving as an Architectural Technologist and supporting the Projects and Strategic Planning Section Manager, this position is responsible for coordinating, administrating, and managing all project phases for new construction, renovations, and tenant improvements. The work undertaken by this position is complex, requiring the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a professional, fast-paced environment. A high level of organizational and supervisory skills is essential for understanding the complex structure and personal interactions within a large policing organization. The key responsibilities of this position include:
- Stakeholder identification and management.
- Defining project objectives, requirements, and scope in consultation with stakeholders to determine operational/business needs.
- Developing and evaluating consultant proposals, including award and contract management.
- Providing program, budget, schedules, and formats for consultants in the preparation of technical drawings and specifications.
- Collecting and analyzing existing data for further design review.
- Reviewing and commenting on all design and construction documents.
- Attending and chairing pre-construction, progress, and site meetings.
- Interpreting contractors’/consultants’ specifications and drawings with technical expertise.
- Leading review and requesting clarification from the design team on design issues, including tracking stakeholder, consultant, and contractor issues and responses.
- Reviewing contract documents, agreements, and shop drawings for approval.
- Supporting peers and management as required.
- Mentoring, training, and supporting junior and new team members.
- Maintaining and expanding technical knowledge through seminars and specialized education.
- Conducting pre-construction site-specific hazard assessments.
- Informing contractors and consultants of site-specific hazards.
- Setting up, maintaining, and carrying out effective communication with COE and EPS OH&S consultants.
- Performing other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
- Two-year Diploma in Architectural Technology or Interior Design Technology.
- Six years of directly related experience in architectural drafting, construction project management, and contract specification work.
- Extensive background in construction techniques, theories, principles, practices, design, engineering, and business administration.
- Knowledge of applicable standards, codes, specifications, regulations, and safety requirements.
- Knowledge of multiple trades and standard practices.
- Thorough understanding of project management phases, tools, and techniques.
- Strong project management skills.
- Ability to interpret, read, and design complex project plans, contracts, specifications, and technical documents.
- Excellent collaboration, customer service, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license or willingness to provide own vehicle with proof of insurance.
- Willingness to participate in Enhanced Security Clearances.
Hours of Work: 33.75 hours/week, 0800-1600, Monday-Friday, with possible variable hours.
Salary Range: $44.91 - $56.66 hourly, based on collective agreement.
