Your Opportunity

As a senior contributor on our professional Architecture team, you will work independently to assist clients in planning and creating fiscally responsible, award-winning designs. Your experience with construction plans, specifications, estimates, and building codes will be vital. You will innovate with sustainable products and green architecture, lead the development of integrated design proposals, maintain and update building information models, prepare various outputs and drawings, and mentor team members under the guidance of the Project Leader.

Your Key Responsibilities

1. Lead project teams as a Job Captain for projects of various sizes and complexities.
2. Promote creativity, critical thinking, and technical excellence both internally and externally.
3. Support business development activities, including proposal preparation, interviews, conference attendance, and industry communications.
4. Assist in recruiting and interviewing technologist staff at all levels.
5. Foster collaboration between offices, promoting and providing a design vision related to building technology and systems.
6. Mentor, teach, and coach design staff to support their career growth.
7. Ensure high-quality technical design and activities, maintaining technological standards across the firm.
8. Participate in performance reviews and goal setting.
9. Assist in producing design award submissions.
10. Engage staff in discussions on technology and building systems, ensuring process adherence and promoting technological tools.
11. Represent the firm’s message on building technology and systems effectively.
12. Lead project team settings, design critiques, and pin-ups.
13. Act as an ambassador and steward of the firm’s portfolio, guiding and educating others.

Qualifications

4. Lead or participate in project teams.
5. Lead teams as Job Captain on medium to large projects, focusing on building technology and systems.
6. Lead the Construction Administration phase of projects.
7. Accept and respond to criticism professionally.
8. Build confidence and trust with team and clients.
9. Exercise good judgment and provide balanced approaches.
10. Check work for technical accuracy and manage team efforts to meet budgets and schedules.
11. Adapt process, design, and effort based on project needs.
12. Interpret sketches, drawings, codes, and building programs; possess strong presentation skills.
13. Understand historical values and context.
14. Demonstrate cultural awareness and maturity.
15. Have comprehensive knowledge of building systems, materials, and standards.
16. Be proficient with Microsoft Office, Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Newforma, Sefaira, and other modeling software.
17. Experience with Procore is an asset.

Education and Experience

Associate's degree or technical school in Building or Architectural Technology or related field; or equivalent experience. 8-10 years of relevant experience. Registration or eligibility with the AIBC is preferred. The role is primarily office-based, with some field work possible.
