Job Description: IT Infrastructure Architect V

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid - 2 days onsite per week; subject to change)

Duration: 6 months, with possible extension

Start Date: ASAP

Business Unit: Network Services

Schedule: Monday to Friday, core business hours

Role Overview

The candidate will work on infrastructure architecture across physical/on-premises environments, cloud infrastructure and SAP-related services. They will translate solution architecture and business requirements into infrastructure architecture requirements and designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Design infrastructure solutions across physical/on-premises environments and cloud platforms, particularly Azure.
• Support migration initiatives from on-premises infrastructure to Azure.
• Work with database SMEs to evaluate suitable database platforms based on project requirements.
• Understand application technologies such as JBoss, Node.js and Spring Boot and their infrastructure requirements.
• Understand infrastructure components such as load balancers and how they fit into the overall architecture.
• Collaborate with solution architects, infrastructure teams and subject matter experts to develop appropriate solutions.

Must-Have / Important Experience

• Azure cloud infrastructure and on-premises infrastructure experience.
• Experience with hybrid infrastructure and migrations from on-premises to Azure.
• Ability to translate solution architecture requirements into infrastructure designs.
• Ability to collaborate with database SMEs and evaluate database platform suitability.

Nice-to-Have

• Familiarity with JBoss, Node.js and Spring Boot.
• Understanding of networking components such as load balancers.

Database Knowledge

The candidate does not necessarily need to be a database specialist. They should understand the architectural considerations and work with database SMEs to evaluate options such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL or Cassandra, depending on requirements.
