Job summary

J.L. Richards & Associates Limited in Ontario seeks an experienced Architect to join our architectural group in Guelph and Timmins. You will lead design and contract administration for diverse projects, collaborating with leadership to advance designs and meet client goals.

You will manage projects through all stages, liaising with clients and developing new relationships while contributing to proposals, budgets, and design documentation. Travel across Ontario supports project needs.

Qualifications

  • OAA Architect with 5+ years of experience and licensure.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario Building Code, National Building Code, CCDC contracts, and building systems.
  • Experience in project management including budgets, schedules, client relationships and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, strong organizational abilities, and business development experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide architectural design and contract administration for commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.
  • Lead projects and design teams with leadership to drive projects forward.
  • Collaborate within an integrated project team across execution, design, and reporting.
  • Manage projects through all stages from definition through planning, design, and construction, leveraging client needs.
  • Liaise with clients and contribute to client development activities.
  • Prepare proposals, reports, specifications, contract documents and budget estimates.
  • Complete Ontario Building Code and National Building Code reviews.
  • Stamp architectural drawings and reports.
  • Prepare design budgets, manage staff and design fees.
  • Travel between JLR offices across Ontario and Canada for project needs.

Your Role as an Architect:

  • Providing architectural design and contract administration related to a variety of commercial, institutional, and industrial construction projects.
  • Leading projects and design teams while working alongside the Director of Architecture and JLR leadership group to drive projects forward.
  • Collaborating with team members as part of an integrated project team, including execution, design, and reporting.
  • Managing projects through all project stages, from the definition, through planning, design, and construction, using your demonstrated abilities to recognize opportunities, understand client needs and manage and deliver projects.
  • Liaising with clients, engagement and leadership of the business, and client development activities.
  • Participating in the preparation of proposals, reports, specifications, contract documents and budget estimates.
  • Completing Ontario Building Code and National Building Code reviews.
  • Stamping architectural working drawings, reports, etc.
  • Preparing design budgets, managing projects, staff, and design fees.
  • Travelling between JLR offices across Ontario and Canada to meet the needs of various projects and/or training purposes.
