Qualifications

  • Understanding of building codes, zoning regulations, and construction.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and related tools.

Responsibilities

Job description

Burnside has a new role available for an Architect to join our growing Facilities Design Team. The position offers the successful candidate an exciting opportunity to help support the growth of our Architectural team and serve clients across a variety of sectors including residential, industrial, commercial, and municipal facilities. This position will involve working closely with our in-house, integrated group of design professionals including the architectural, structural, building restoration, mechanical, and electrical teams as well as the opportunity to work with our first nations and infrastructure groups.

Burnside’s one-stop-shop consulting model brings key design and engineering disciplines together under one roof, creating an environment where collaboration, innovation, and efficient decision-making thrive. As an Architect on our team, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with experts across multiple disciplines, influence projects from concept to construction, and help deliver solutions that serve our clients well into the future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research, program, plan, design, and administer building projects for clients, applying knowledge of architectural design, construction detailing, construction procedures, zoning, building codes, building materials, and building systems.
  • Produce conceptual plans, renderings, and documents.
  • Plan and layout projects.
  • Coordinate and integrate engineering elements into unified design for client review and approval.
  • Work as a project manager to prepare proposals, direct, supervise and check the activities of staff engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents for the conceptual, schematic, and detailed design stages.
  • Liaise with project managers, clients, and other project stakeholders.
  • Work together with highly collaborative multi-discipline design teams.
  • Research and coordinate material and products for project specifications.
  • Conduct construction reviews for conformance to architectural drawings and contract administration.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and assist in resolving them.
  • Foster strong client relationships and ensure client satisfaction throughout the project.
  • Manage and complete tasks for multidisciplinary projects.
  • Support and manage municipal and agency approvals including site plan approval, conservation authority approval, and building permits.

Education, Experience and Licensing Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture from an accredited institution.
  • A member of the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA).
  • 3+ years of relevant architectural experience.
  • Understanding and knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, building construction, building systems, site requirements, and municipal approval processes.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and other architectural tools.
  • LEED AP or PMP considered an asset.
Salary Range

$85,000 - $100,000
