Job summary

WSP in Canada is seeking an Archaeology Lead to guide a high-performing team and influence project delivery at a strategic level across Ontario. You will partner with senior leaders to foster collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence in all projects.

You will develop people, strengthen client relationships, and drive business performance while delivering archaeological services that support responsible development and community outcomes.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience leading archaeology teams, programs, or complex projects within consulting, government, or related environments.
• Strong knowledge of archaeological field methods, reporting standards, and cultural resource management practices.
• Proven ability to manage client relationships, prepare proposals, and contribute to business development efforts.
• Experience developing high-performing teams through coaching, mentoring, recruitment, and performance management. Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with a track record of building strong internal and external relationships.
• Sound business acumen and the ability to align technical delivery with operational and financial objectives.
• Ability and willingness to travel as required to support projects, clients, and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of archaeology professionals, fostering collaboration, engagement, and technical excellence.
• Drive the growth and development of the Archaeology Team in partnership with senior leaders and technical experts.
• Build and strengthen client relationships while supporting business development, proposal preparation, and strategic growth initiatives.
• Oversee the delivery of high-quality archaeological projects, ensuring excellence in field methodology, reporting, and client deliverables.
• Coordinate team workloads and resources to support efficient project execution and operational success.
• Champion recruitment, succession planning, mentoring, and performance development initiatives across the team.
• Promote a strong health and safety culture and ensure safety remains a priority throughout project delivery.
• Support key business objectives, performance indicators, budgeting, and planning activities while contributing to the continued success of the Earth & Environment business.
