Job summary

Bartlett Tree Experts in Victoria, BC, is seeking an Arborist Ground Person to join our tree care crew. This entry-level position offers hands-on training in pruning, rigging, cabling, removals, and equipment operation on commercial and residential properties.

You will learn safety rules, perform tasks with a multi-disciplinary team, and grow professionally through company-provided training and resources from Bartlett Tree Experts Research Laboratories.

Qualifications

• Hands-on training in all aspects of arboriculture, including pruning, rigging, cabling and bracing, removals, and proper equipment use.
• Adherence to safety rules and company safety policies.
• Passion for nature and outdoor work year-round.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Learn on-the-job safety and arboriculture tasks.
• Pruning, rigging, cabling, removals as part of a tree care crew.
• Operate hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts safely.
• Assist Arborist Climbers and Crew Leaders on ground and aloft.
• Support with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties.

As an Arborist Ground Person, you will play an important role in

• Learning through on-the-job training to safely perform all aspects of arboriculture, including
  • Pruning
  • Rigging
  • Cabling and bracing
  • Removals
  • Properly maintaining and operating equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts)
  • Implementing work zone safety procedures
  • Assisting Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders working on the ground and aloft
  • Assisting with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties
• Learning, understanding, and adhering to all safety rules and company safety policies
• A passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors
• Interest in working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
• Valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work on a multi-disciplinary team
• Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, turf care, or horticulture experience is preferred but not required
• Degree or Certificate in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Turfgrass, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation, Agriculture or a related field is preferred but not required
