Job summary

Bartlett Tree Experts in Summerland, BC is seeking an Arborist Ground Person to join a professional tree care crew. This entry‑level role offers hands‑on training in pruning, rigging, cabling, removals, and safe use of equipment on commercial and residential properties.

You will learn from skilled arborists, participate in safety programs, and gain exposure to the Bartlett Research Laboratories. A positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential for success in a collaborative,

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn and contribute to a safety‑minded team.
• Ability to work outdoors year‑round in various weather conditions.
• Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, turf care or horticulture experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform arboriculture tasks such as pruning, rigging, cabling and bracing, and removals.
• Safely operate and maintain hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Implement work zone safety procedures and assist with driving, backing and parking duties.
• Support Arborist Climbers and Crew Leaders on ground and aloft.

As an Arborist Ground Person, you will play an important role in

• Learning through on-the-job training to safely perform all aspects of arboriculture, including
• Pruning
• Rigging
• Cabling and bracing
• Removals
• Properly maintaining and operating equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts)
• Implementing work zone safety procedures
• Assisting Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders working on the ground and aloft
• Assisting with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties
• Learning, understanding, and adhering to all safety rules and company safety policies
• A passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors
• Interest in working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
• Valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record
• A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work on a multi-disciplinary team
• Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, turf care, or horticulture experience is preferred but not required
• Degree or Certificate in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Turfgrass, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation, Agriculture or a related field is preferred but not required
