Job summary

Bartlett Tree Experts in Burnaby, BC, is hiring an Arborist Ground Person to join a tree care crew. This entry-level role offers hands-on field training and exposure to pruning, rigging, cabling, removals, and equipment operation on residential and commercial properties.

You will learn safety procedures, work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and have opportunities for advancement within the company, with benefits including health, dental, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Learning through on-the-job training to safely perform all aspects of arboriculture.
• Must be willing to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
• Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, turf care, or horticulture experience is preferred but not required.
• Degree or Certificate in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Turfgrass, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation, Agriculture or related field is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Learn and perform pruning, rigging, cabling and bracing, removals.
• Safely operate hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Implement work zone safety procedures.
• Assist Arborist Climbers and Crew Leaders on ground and aloft; assist with driving, backing, dumping and parking duties.
• Follow all safety rules and company safety policies.

As an Arborist Ground Person, you will play an important role in

• Learning through on-the-job training to safely perform all aspects of arboriculture, including

  • Properly maintaining and operating equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts)
  • Implementing work zone safety procedures
  • Assisting Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders working on the ground and aloft
  • Assisting with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties
• Learning, understanding, and adhering to all safety rules and company safety policies
• A passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors
• Interest in working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
• Valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work on a multi-disciplinary team
• Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, turf care, or horticulture experience is preferred but not required
• Degree or Certificate in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Turfgrass, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation, Agriculture or a related field is preferred but not required
