Job summary

Surrey Muslim School is seeking a caring, enthusiastic teacher to deliver engaging lessons that inspire students to love learning. You will plan units and daily lessons aligned with the BC curriculum and maintain effective classroom management.

The successful candidate will teach Islamic Studies (Shariaa), Arabic, and Quran, with knowledge of BC primary/intermediate curricula preferred. This is an in-person, Monday-to-Friday position emphasizing inclusive, differentiated instruction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education from a Canadian university.
• Valid teaching license from a Canadian province, or in process of obtaining one.
• Excellent classroom management skills.
• Knowledge of BC Primary/Intermediate curriculum (preferred).
• Ability to teach Islamic Studies (Shariaa), Arabic language as well as Quran.
• Relevant experience in primary/intermediate classrooms (an asset).
• Respects the Islamic faith and culture.

Responsibilities

• Design unit plans and daily lesson plans in accordance to the BC curriculum requirements.
• Employs a variety of instructional methods that are holistic in nature.
• Is able to differentiate their teaching to meet the diverse learning needs of their students.
• Takes a proactive approach to classroom discipline and understands how to constructively resolve student conflict, disruptions or misbehavior.
