Job summary

The City of Port Coquitlam is seeking a Recreation Program Assistant - Aquatics. This full-time role supports development, execution, and evaluation of recreation services.

You will supervise staff, liaise with community groups, draft promos, and manage inventories, working under a supervisor with established guidelines. Successful candidates will meet extensive certification requirements and a minimum of post-secondary recreation coursework.

Qualifications

• Completion of four post-secondary courses in Community Recreation or a related discipline.
• Pool Operator Level I certification.
• Six months supervisory experience or a leadership course.
• One year full-time equivalent experience in the area of assignment.
• Occupational First Aid Level 1 and National Lifeguard Pool certification.
• Swim for Life Instructor and SIT certifications.
• CPR/First Aid Instructor certification and a valid Class 5 BC driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing and promoting programs and services.
• Supervise, guide, and mentor staff and volunteers.
• Liaise with community groups and associations.
• Draft promotional material for supervisor review and approval.
• Maintain equipment and supply inventories according to policy.
• Provide leadership and instruction for programs and activities.
