Qualifications

  • Proficiency with digital tools and documentation.

Role Description

The Apprenticeship Coach is a full-time hybrid role based in Edmonton, AB, with a mix of on-site and work-from-home responsibilities. This role supports job seekers in exploring, entering, and succeeding in apprenticeship pathways by providing individualized coaching, employment readiness training, and guidance on trades-related career options. Day-to-day tasks include meeting with participants, assessing employment and training needs, developing action plans, and assisting with applications to apprenticeship programs, employers, and funding sources. The Apprenticeship Coach also builds relationships with industry partners and training institutions, coordinates workshops and information sessions, and maintains accurate documentation and progress records. Collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders is essential to ensure participants receive comprehensive, coordinated support.


Qualifications


  • Experience in career development, employment counseling, or coaching, preferably with a focus on trades or apprenticeship pathways.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust, motivate participants, and work effectively with diverse communities.

  • Ability to conduct assessments, develop individualized plans, and track progress using case management or similar tools.

  • Knowledge of Alberta’s apprenticeship system, labour market trends, and employer expectations in skilled trades is an asset.

  • Proficiency with digital tools and documentation, including office productivity software and online collaboration platforms.

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a hybrid work environment.

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (such as human services, education, social work, or career development) or equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and non-discriminatory practices when supporting job seekers and engaging with employers.
