Job summary

Wiehler Mechanical Ltd. in Calgary is seeking a 2nd Year to 4th Year Sheet Metal Apprentice to join our commercial division. You will support Journeymen installing HVAC ductwork in commercial buildings and grow skills in fabrication and blueprint reading.

This is a full-time, on-site role with a stable 7:00 AM–3:30 PM schedule, Mon–Fri, competitive pay and benefits including RRSP matching, health and dental, and a tool program. Driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites are a plus.

Qualifications

• 2nd to 4th year sheet metal apprentice in commercial installations.
• Experience with HVAC ductwork and sheet metal fabrication.
• Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, and secure commercial HVAC duct systems and components.
• Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Measure, cut, and bend sheet metal using tools and machinery.
• Inspect and test installed systems for proper operation.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow safety policies.
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment safely.

Our Commercial Division is looking for a 2nd Year to 4th Year Sheet Metal Apprentice to join our growing team. The ideal candidate has experience working in commercial environments, a strong work ethic, and a desire to advance in the sheet metal trade. They will work under the supervision of Journeymen, assisting in installations of HVAC systems in commercial buildings.

You'll receive competitive pay ranging from $26.00-$36.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

STABLE, FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE

You'll typically work Monday through Friday between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM

OUR IDEAL COMMERCIAL SHEET METAL APPRENTICE:

We're Looking For Someone Who Meets These Qualifications

• 2nd Year to 4th year apprentice
• Experience in commercial sheet metal installation or HVAC ductwork
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, duct systems, and ventilation components
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and project plans
• Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and lift heavy materials
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as needed

And Who Can Manage These Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, and secure commercial HVAC duct systems, fittings, and related components
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure proper installation
• Measure, cut, and bend sheet metal using hand tools, power tools, and machinery
• Inspect and test installed systems for proper operation and adherence to industry standards
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following company policies and safety regulations
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner

The following experience or certifications are preferred but not required:

• Fall arrest
• Scissor lift
• First aid
