Job summary

District Mechanical is seeking an entry-level plumber/apprentice to join our on-site teams. The role involves reading blueprints, marking pipe locations, cutting openings, joining pipes and testing for leaks at residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional sites.

You will work under supervision, gain Level 1–5 apprenticeship training, and learn to ensure all installations meet government regulations while contributing to a range of project types. This position requires on-site work only.

Qualifications

• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems
• Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floors
• Cut opening in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings
• Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment
• Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges
• Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing
• Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shape and size
• Ensure electrical and plumbing installations meet government regulation
