Job summary

District Mechanical is seeking an entry-level plumbing apprentice to read blueprints, mark pipe locations, cut openings, join pipes, and test for leaks. The role supports multiple piping systems across commercial, industrial, and residential sites. On-site work requires steel-toed boots; WHMIS training is provided during apprenticeship.

No degree is required; Level 1–5 apprenticeship training is available. Candidates should be prepared for physical work and learning under experienced plumbers.

Qualifications

• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems
• Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floors
• Cut opening in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings
• Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment
• Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges
• Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing
• Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shape and size
• Ensure electrical and plumbing installations meet government regulation
