Job summary

Lynco is seeking an Apprentice Pipefitter for a temporary, project-based assignment in Lloydminster, Alberta. The role supports installation, assembly, fabrication, maintenance and repair of piping systems across industrial settings under guidance of a Journeyperson.

The incumbent will work with safety procedures and PPE, and may travel to various sites across the Lloydminster region. This is a full-time, hourly position with likely outdoor exposure.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Registered apprentice or willing to register in the pipefitter apprenticeship program.
  • Valid safety tickets (e.g., CSTS, WHMIS, Fall Protection, Confined Space).
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving abstract.
  • Pre-employment Alcohol & Drug test required.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Willing to travel and work on all work sites.
  • Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, mining, or construction environments is a plus.

  • Assist with measuring, cutting, threading, grooving, and assembling pipe.
  • Use manual and power tools.
  • Support layout and installation from drawings and instructions.
  • Learn to read P&IDs and isometric drawings.
  • Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for daily tasks.
  • Perform fabrication tasks under supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and tools.

Overview

Reporting directly to the Foreperson, the Apprentice Pipefitter will be responsible for supporting the installation, assembly, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of piping systems across industrial environments under the guidance of a Journeyperson Pipefitter. This role requires technical knowledge, precision, and the ability to work safely and efficiently within a team or independently.

The incumbent will conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission, vision and values of Lynco, as well as adherence to all established Policies and Procedures.

This temporary project-based full-time, hourly position is located within the Lloydminster region, Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Responsibilities
  • Install, fit, and fabricate piping systems according to specifications, drawings, and codes.
  • Assist with measuring, cutting, threading, grooving, and assembling pipe.
  • Use manual and power tools.
  • Support layout and installation of piping systems according to drawings and instructions.
  • Learn to interpret isometric drawings, piping & instrumentation drawings (P&IDs), and work packages.
  • Assist with preparing materials, tools, and equipment for daily tasks.
  • Perform fabrication tasks under supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure tools are stored properly.
  • Support hydrotesting, pneumatic testing, and system commissioning.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, hazard assessments and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform work on various industrial sites, construction projects, or maintenance facilities.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and other trades people.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organized work area.
  • Other relatable duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Grade twelve (12) Diploma or General Education Diplomas (GED) equivalency is required.
  • Registered apprentice or willingness to register in the pipefitter apprenticeship program.
  • Ability to follow instructions and learn new skills quickly.
  • Valid safety tickets (e.g., CSTS, WHMIS, Fall Protection, Confined Space) depending on site requirements.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and a clean drivers abstract are required.
  • Pre-employment Alcohol & Drug test is required.
  • Understanding applicable industry codes and standards is considered an asset.
  • Proficient with pipe fabrication tools and equipment.
  • Basic welding or tack-welding ability is considered an asset.
  • Ability to learn to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Ability to travel and work on all work sites without restrictions.
  • Ability to work shift work, including overtime when required. Must be willing to outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, mining, or construction environments is considered an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
