Qualifications

• Must be indentured into the trade.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• Eligible to work in Canada.
• Industrial oil & gas experience is an asset.
• Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) is an asset.
• Valid safety certifications (H2S Alive, First Aid, Fall Arrest, Aerial Work Platform) are an asset.
• Flexibility for shift work, overtime and weekend availability is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and electrical code specs for layouts of industrial electrical equipment installations.
• Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
• Install, examine, replace or repair motors, PLCs, 480V power, 120V control circuits, 4160V switchgear, transformers, motors, starters, relays and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical contracts.
• Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber optic, and coaxial cables assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and testing of various electrical systems (including power distribution equipment).
• Size and install electrical circuits including panels, wire size and type, conduit, protective devices, switches, and related equipment needed to comply with CEC and/or NEC.
• Quickly repair electrical failure and replace parts where incorrect applications could cause danger and hazardous conditions.
• Correct wiring and connections on machinery controls where incorrect applications could cause danger and hazardous conditions.
• Fabricates, installs and/or runs conduit, 3-phase work, motor terminations, troubleshooting and panel work.
• Works on systems operating at 240 volts wye, 480 volts wye, 480 volts delta, 4160 volt switchgear, ammeters and PCs.
• Conducts preventive maintenance programs and keeps maintenance records.
• May install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices.
• Complies with standards and procedures of the Medallion health and safety manual and occupational health and safety regulations.
• Must make reasonable efforts in trade advancement.
