Job Overview

Under the supervision of a licensed Electrician, assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment in food manufacturing to ensure production goals. Support other maintenance activities as directed.

Day Shift: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm

This is a permanent full-time position, 37.5 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist with scheduled preventative maintenance on production equipment, including wiring, conduit, lighting, and power distribution.
2. Learn and apply electrical codes and safety regulations.
3. Help troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on equipment such as motors, sensors, and control systems.
4. Identify root causes of problems and assist in implementing solutions.
5. Fulfill all requirements in the Apprenticeship Curriculum Standard provided by Skilled Trades Ontario.
6. Demonstrate competencies and receive sign-off in your Apprenticeship Training Standard Logbook.
7. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
8. Follow all safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout, confined space, hot work permits, and PPE requirements.

Qualifications

1. Enrolled or planning to enroll in an Industrial Electrician apprenticeship program.
2. At least 1 year experience in maintenance or an Industrial Electrician program.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
4. Strong computer skills (MS Excel, Word, etc.).
5. Training in business, inventory, and purchasing.
6. Knowledge of CMMS and LOTO procedures.
7. Understanding of production equipment principles.

Working Conditions

1. Ability to work in a team or independently.
2. Moderate exposure to loud noise and heavy machinery.
3. Work in areas with temperature and humidity variations, including dry, cooler, and freezer environments.
