Job summary

BCAA in Victoria, BC is seeking an Apprentice Automotive Technician (Level 1–4) to join our on-site Auto Service Centre. You will repair vehicles, help teammates, and communicate estimates to Members while upholding our trusted service standards.

The role requires completion of Automotive Apprenticeship exams, upgrade training in new automotive tech (OBD-II), and 1–4 years in a repair facility. Must have a BC license and MS Outlook/scan tools proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of Automotive Provincial Apprenticeship level exams.
  • Completed Upgrade Training of current automotive technologies, with a focus on OBD-II courses.
  • One to four years of Technical Experience at an Automotive repair facility.
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs (23 kg) and stand for long periods.
  • Clean BC Driver License Class 7 or better.
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook and modern scan tools.

Responsibilities

  • Complete vehicle repairs and assist other technicians in the shop, including time and cost estimating for members.
  • Deliver quality service to Members and maintain high customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and ensure equipment is in good working condition.
  • Continue to learn from other technicians and training courses.
  • Stay current with advances in vehicle technology.

We are currently hiring a Regular Full-Time Apprentice Automotive Technician (Level 1 to Level 4) based in our Victoria Automotive Service Centre. As a Apprentice Automotive Technician, you are part of the team that delivers exceptional service and technical expertise in repairing our members’ vehicles. In addition to being on the tools, you’ll be responsible for communicating cost and time estimates to our Members and upholding BCAA’s reputation as one of the most trusted organizations in British Columbia.

What you bring?

Once here, you will:
  • Complete vehicle repairs while also assisting other technicians in the shop. This will include time and cost estimating and communicating with members.
  • Deliver quality service to our Members and contribute to a high-level of measured customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment that complies with environmental standards, and operational policies and procedures while ensuring equipment is in good working condition for your entire BCAA team.
  • Continue to learn and increase your knowledge from other BCAA technicians or from assigned Automotive Training courses.
  • Stay current with advances in vehicle technology.

The salary range for this position is $42,516.72 ($20.44/hr) to $70,757.04 ($34.02/hr) [straight-rate] and is determined via job-related knowledge, apprenticeship exams completed, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity.

In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for a 9% target performance bonus paid quarterly and annually, with the opportunity to earn up to 15%, along with a comprehensive Total Rewards package including 3 weeks vacation plus wellness and cultural days (PTO prorated based on start date), 6% RRSP matching, Defined Contribution Pension, a $300 Wellness Account (prorated), and a BCAA membership.

This fulltime position is 5 days a week, and is an on-site position based out of our Victoria Auto Service Centre (712 Bay Street, Victoria). Applicants who are not located within commuting distance of our Victoria ASC or are not looking to relocate to the Vancouver Island region will not be considered.
