Job summary

Volatus Aerospace is seeking self-directed Apprentice Aircraft Maintenance Engineers for hands-on experience at Villeneuve Airport, Edmonton. The role offers mentorship, exposure to rotary and fixed‑wing operations, and steady local work with no extended tours away from base.

You will work under supervision to perform inspections, servicing, and repairs, while documenting maintenance records and ensuring compliance with Transport Canada regulations and company procedures.

Qualifications

  • Diploma with accreditation in a recognized Aircraft Maintenance program.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, technical drawings, and instructions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance and travel to the USA.

Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
  • Perform inspections, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairs under supervision.
  • Support maintenance tasks in accordance with Transport Canada regulations, company procedures, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Accurately complete maintenance records, technical documentation, and work orders.
  • Assist with aircraft component removals, installations, and functional testing.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, safety, and quality assurance programs.
  • Support aircraft availability and operational readiness across the fleet.

Job Overview

We are looking for self-directed, motivated Apprentice AMEs who want meaningful hands‑on experience across a varied fleet while developing in a supportive maintenance environment. Based at Villeneuve Airport, this role offers steady local work, practical mentorship, exposure to both helicopter and fixed‑wing operations, minimal field requirements, and no extended tours away from base.

Key Responsibilities

Preferred Qualification
  • Previous aviation maintenance experience through co‑op, internship, or apprenticeship placements.
  • Familiarity with rotary‑wing or fixed‑wing aircraft operations.
  • Experience working in a maintenance, aviation, or industrial environment.
Hours Of Work And Work Environment
  • The position is an onsite role, and the Employee is required to perform their duties primarily at the Company’s designated workplace at Villeneuve Airport, as directed by the Company.
  • The standard work schedule consists of forty (40) hours per week, subject to operational requirements.
  • From time to time, the Employee may be required to maintain reasonable flexibility in working hours to support operational needs, time‑sensitive maintenance, aircraft‑on‑ground events, or business priorities.
  • The role is performed in an aircraft maintenance environment and may involve exposure to noise, machinery, fuels, lubricants, weather conditions, and other workplace hazards.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work with tools for extended periods.
