SALARY Range: $61,475 to $76,844
Position Summary
This position is responsible for the support, implementation, and training associated with the district's student information system (SIS) application at the elementary school, secondary school, and central administration office levels. This position is the district liaison at the provincial level, is the SIS Level 1 Support contact for schools, and acts as the primary contact between the district and the SIS provincial team in overseeing the day-to-day use of the SIS in the district.
This position also performs project work and provides support for Central Office Departments and related applications. Project work involves activities such as application reviews, application implementation, data extractions, data cleansing, data migration, and data analysis. Support involves activities such as user account maintenance, applications training, process review, and custom reporting.
Specific Duties And Responsibilities
- Assists in the maintenance of all user accounts, user privileges, and associated user configurations in the SIS software.
- Provides SIS application support in the form of training and troubleshooting to all district users including but not limited to, Teachers, Principals, Secretaries and SASO's (Student Administration System Operators);
- Has a working knowledge of the SIS Standards Manual and ensures the district in in compliance with the SIS standards and procedures;
- Is responsible for the setup, on-going maintenance and updates for the SIS district level system codes and company file.
- Has overall responsibility for SIS data quality assurance.
- Responsible for required reporting including, but not limited to, 1701, 1601, TRAX, SADE, Class Size and Composition, and preparation of required reports / extracts from SIS software.
- Responsible for data uploads including, but not limited not, efunds, School Messenger, MyBlueprint, Willock, Barager and INAC.
- Keeps current with new procedures, software updates, revised training materials, etc.
- Level 1 Support contact for schools; Primary contact with the Level 2 Support Team at Fujitsu; Primary contact for reporting unresolved SIS software questions to the provincial team;
- SIS liaison between the district and schools - works with the district Technology Support Coordinator and the Technical Analysts to troubleshoot SIS issues in the schools;
- Works with district staff and schools to ensure that school practices are adapted / modified as required to facilitate effective deployment of SIS software.
- Assist with student registration and transfer processes, as well as international student registration
- Acts as the district's SIS designate at the provincial level in:
- Service Management Council (SMC)
- Common SIS Consortium
- Other Committees and Consortiums as required
- Acts as a voting member on SIS improvements, changes, and/or adoption of new procedures on the SMC; and
- Performs other related duties / responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
The successful candidate shall have the following qualifications and attributes:
- A degree or diploma in the field of data management or equivalent;
- Advanced working knowledge of Excel and/or other data management and data analysis tools;
- Extensive working knowledge of the district's SIS especially in the areas of: course management, pre-scheduling, scheduling, the master timetable builder and year-end transition, gradebook, Student Support Services – IEP, VTRA, assessment, AIP
- Working knowledge of the online processes, namely student registration, student transfer and transition
- Knowledge of the SIS Standards Manual, Ministry guidelines and procedures, 1701, TRAX, Transcripts, SADE, Class Size and Composition Knowledge and expertise with commonly used educational software;
- Demonstrate ability to analyze data and provide required statistical information;
