Major Duties

The Applications Engineering, Service Specialist ensures the quality, content and on-time delivery of proposals generated by the Service Applications team. This includes mechanical and electrical concepts, costing and proposal documents. In this role you are responsible for proposing solutions, costing, and developing service proposals for automation customers in the division. The role requires a highly motivated, customer-oriented individual with strong problem-solving capabilities, co-ordination skills, and general business aptitude. This is a remote position.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Responsible for conceptual development, pricing and writing detailed technical proposals for all types of Service related and automation equipment projects.
  • Works closely with customers, engineers, project managers and other technical staff in conceptual development, pricing and writing of Service-related technical proposals.
  • Responsible for the quality, content and on-time delivery of technical proposals issued by the Service team.
  • Collaborate with other ATS divisions worldwide to leverage regional resources
  • Responsible for contributing to and ensuring proper content of all Pre-TCC meetings scheduled by his / her team.
  • Facilitate meetings to converge on solutions and work plans
  • Ensures adherence to applications policies and procedures.
  • Will participate in recruiting activities when required.
  • Will contribute as required, along with the Director of Service to capture plan strategies, ORR evaluation, TCC Approval, pre-bid alignment and bid reviews.
  • Assisting sales team, pre-screening of opportunities with sales team and providing sales presentations to customer personnel, when required.
  • Development of relevant tools, processes and improvement initiatives to ensure department procedural compliance and best practices.
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.

Qualifications

Education

  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in mechanical / systems / electrical engineering or equivalent.

Skills

  • Knowledge of computer programs such as Salesforce, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook, and Windows.

Experience

  • 5 years’ experience in applications engineering role, or in related roles such as Systems Design, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Design, Technical Inside Sales, Technical quoting or Proposal Writing.
  • Must have the required post-secondary education coupled with technical aptitude.
  • Working knowledge and / or familiarity with automation, robotics, machine controls, and manufacturing processes is beneficial.
