Job summary

G&W Electric Co. is seeking an Application Engineering Specialist II to join the Inside Sales Team. You will review customer requirements, prepare quotations, and ensure customer needs are met through collaboration with internal teams.

The role emphasizes technical and commercial analysis, cost modeling, and close coordination with customers and engineering. A bachelor's in engineering is preferred, with 3–5 years in related roles and proficiency in MS Office; JDE/Salesforce experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with preference for Electrical or Mechanical specialization.
• 3 to 5 years in application engineering, inside sales, or related industrial/manufacturing settings.
• Switchgear design experience is an asset.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
• Experience with JDE and Salesforce is an asset.
• Proven experience interacting with customers, preparing quotations, selecting equipment.
• Client-centric with proactive internal customer support.

Responsibilities

• Determine and document technical and commercial customer requirements.
• Interpret specifications and select G&W equipment to meet needs.
• Prepare product quotations and engineered bids.
• Maintain communication with customers and suppliers on inquiries.
• Provide technical support for outside sales, consultants, and customers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects.
• Interface with Engineering and Product Management on design inquiries.
• Develop cost models for standard and custom equipment; determine pricing and lead times.
• Partner with Sales to present customer strategies and solutions.
• Manage commercial and technical aspects of the customer relationship.
• Build strong relationships with internal resources and Sales.
• Provide timely verbal and written communication to the team.

Application Engineering Specialist II

Working as part of the Inside Sales Team and reporting to the Application Engineering Manager, the Applications Engineering Specialist II will work collaboratively with their team to review customer requirements, technical specifications, prepare quotations, and ensure that customer needs are met.

As a Application Engineering Specialist II You Will

• Determine and document the technical and commercial requirements of the customers application
• Interpret engineering specifications and select G&W equipment to meet customer requirements.
• Prepare product quotations and bids for engineered packages
• Ongoing communication with customers and suppliers to address technical/commercial inquiries
• Providing technical support and expertise for our outside sales force, consultants and customers
• Work with cross functional teams on various projects
• Interface with Engineering and Product Management teams on product design/ capability inquiries.
• Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
• Fully and accurately determine the technical and commercial requirements of the application
  • Select the appropriate G&W product to meet these requirements
  • Develop accurate cost models for both standard and custom equipment
  • Determine price levels and lead times
  • Communicate requirements to G&W’s internal teams for engineering and manufacturing
• Partner with Sales Team to develop and present customer sales strategies
• Partner with customers and our Engineering team to develop custom solutions that satisfies the application
• Manage the commercial and technical aspects of the customer
• Build and maintain strong relationships with our internal resources and Sales Team
• Provide timely and effective verbal and written communication to our internal resources and Sales Team

We Are Looking For Someone Who

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a preference for Electrical, Mechanical specialization.
• 3 to 5 Years of experience in an application engineering, inside sales, or related areas preferably in industrial/manufacturing settings.
• Switchgear design experience would be considered an asset.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the full Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with JDE and Salesforce software is an asset.
• Proven experience interacting with customers, preparing quotations, selecting equipment or related duties.
• Is client-centric; proactively anticipates and actions internal customers’ needs

What We Offer You

The base salary for this position is between $75,000-$90,000 annually.

Please note the pay information shown above is a general guideline. Pay is based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications.

This position is eligible for participation in our Quarterly Incentive Pay Program which includes quarterly bonus + profit sharing. This position is highly market competitive.
