Job summary

IBM Canada is seeking motivated student developers for a 4-month work term in Toronto. You will build modern digital solutions across web, mobile, API, and cloud platforms, collaborating with architects, engineers, and product stakeholders to deliver enterprise-grade work.

You will contribute to frontend and backend development, participate in Agile ceremonies, and explore prototypes and AI initiatives while deepening knowledge of cloud-native deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required for co-op term.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Familiarity with Agile practices is a plus.

Responsibilities

Your Role And Responsibilities

We are seeking motivated developers who are passionate about building modern digital solutions across web, mobile, APIs, cloud platforms & emerging technologies. You’ll work alongside architects, engineers, designers & product stakeholders to deliver solutions for enterprise clients and internal innovation initiatives.

In This Role, You May Contribute To

• Building frontend applications using React, Angular or modern web frameworks
• Developing backend services and APIs using Java, Node.js or similar technologies
• Supporting cloud-native deployments using Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines
• Participating in Agile delivery teams and sprint ceremonies
• Building prototypes, proofs of concept and innovation solutions
• Contributing to mobile or AI initiatives where relevant
• Solving real business problems through software engineering best practices

This position resides in Toronto and is a 4-month work term commencing in January 2027. All applicants must be eligible to work full-time in Canada and enrolled full-time in an eligible post‑secondary program. It is mandatory that applicants return to full-time studies upon completion of the work term. Candidates pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degrees are eligible. MBA and PhD candidates are not eligible for this opportunity.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

• Knowledge of one or more programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Swift, Kotlin or similar
• Understanding of software development fundamentals such as debugging, APIs, version control and problem solving

• Curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn independently
• Team-oriented mindset with a positive attitude

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

• Experience with React, Angular or other frontend frameworks
• Familiarity with Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, or REST APIs
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, or GCP
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker/Kubernetes
• Exposure to mobile development (iOS, Android, React Native)
• Exposure to AI tools, automation, workflows
• Personal projects, hackathons, co‑op experience or open‑source contributions
• Apply AI capabilities (e.g., large language models, computer vision, generative AI or automation APIs) to real‑world use cases
