Job summary

IBM Canada in Toronto is offering an Application Developer Intern - Full Stack / Cloud / Modern Engineering, a 4-month term starting January 2027. You will work in hybrid mode with IBM Consulting.

You will gain hands-on experience with frontend and backend technologies, cloud deployments, and collaboration with architects, engineers and product stakeholders.

Applicants must be enrolled full-time in a post-secondary program and able to work full-time in Canada; Bachelor's or higher is preferred.

  • Building prototypes, proofs of concept and innovation solutions.
  • Contributing to mobile or AI initiatives where relevant.

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking motivated developers who are passionate about building modern digital solutions across web, mobile, APIs, cloud platforms & emerging technologies. You'll work alongside architects, engineers, designers & product stakeholders to deliver solutions for enterprise clients and internal innovation initiatives.

  • Building frontend applications using React, Angular or modern web frameworks
  • Developing backend services and APIs using Java, Node.js or similar technologies

This position resides in Toronto and is a 4-month work term commencing in January 2027. All applicants must be eligible to work full-time in Canada and enrolled full-time in an eligible post-secondary program. It is mandatory that applicants return to full-time studies upon completion of the work term. Candidates pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degrees are eligible. MBA and PhD candidates are not eligible for this opportunity.

  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, or GCP
  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker/Kubernetes
  • Exposure to AI tools, automation, workflows
  • Personal projects, hackathons, co-op experience or open-source contributions
  • Apply AI capabilities (e.g., large language models, computer vision, generative AI or automation APIs) to real-world use cases
