Job summary

Boreal Veterinary Centre invites an experienced Anesthesia Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT) to join our Surgery team in Edmonton, AB. This full-time role supports surgical and specialty services in a fast-paced referral setting.

The position offers a 10-hour shift schedule, Monday–Friday, with rotating on-call weekends for after-hours anesthesia care. ABVMA/ABVTA membership and animal anesthesia experience are required.

Qualifications

• Active ABVMA and ABVTA member requirement.
• Experience with general anesthesia in dogs and cats for various procedures.
• Proficient with monitoring equipment (pulse oximetry, ECG, capnography, BP).
• Strong math for drug calculations, infusions, and unit conversions.
• Commitment to ongoing education in anesthesia and analgesia.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physical examinations and patient assessments.
• Calculate, draw, and administer medications.
• Supervise and support Animal Care Assistants.
• Communicate effectively with clients by phone, email, and in person.
• Administer, monitor, and recover patients from anesthesia.
• Perform procedures as prescribed by the veterinarian.
• Maintain detailed medical records.
• Mentor and support other team members.
