Qualifications

About The Role

On-site I Full-time

Using standard procedures, the laboratory analyst performs a variety of mineral separation tests as required for each test program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting laboratory preparatory work including weighing and solution preparation;
  • Using established procedures for chemical/instrumental analysis;
  • Ensuring analytical quality of analysis and timely reporting of analysis;
  • Using Microsoft Excel to create reports and evaluate data;
  • Performing day-to-day routine care of equipment;
  • Maintaining a clean work environment;
  • Observing established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies;
  • Other duties as assigned.

About You

  • Analytical and mechanical skills;
  • Detail oriented individual with a strong commitment to quality;
  • Organized, highly motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team;
  • Ability to effectively handle a high volume of work and time critical issues;
  • English communication skills (written and verbal);
  • Basic MS Office skills, specifically MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

Required Qualifications

  • Recognized degree or technical diploma in Chemistry or Sciences required;
  • Laboratory experience in a metallurgical, analytical chemistry or related field is preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks;
  • Able to lift filled 20 litre containers (25 kg);
  • Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required;
  • Ability to stand for a full shift;
  • Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities.
