Job summary

Rogers Communications in Toronto, ON, is seeking a Transportation Analyst within Finance & Payables to manage transportation spend, ensure timely invoicing, and support monthly variance analysis for senior management.

You will develop budgets, KPIs, and cost models, leverage SQL/Excel, and collaborate with auditors and carriers to drive efficiency and cost savings.

Qualifications

• University degree in Business, Supply Chain Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Professional certification in Transportation or Logistics (CITT, PLog) preferred.
• 3+ years experience in transportation / distribution / manufacturing / supply chain.
• Minimum of 1 year demonstrated experience in an analytical role.
• Prior experience in an accounting / finance role would be an asset.
• Exceptional data and process analysis, problem solving, planning, and organizational skills are a must.
• Technological aptitude with advanced Excel skills and proficiency in MS Office Suite; Oracle ERP experience preferred.
• Knowledge of SQL, Access, Noetix; familiarity with Tableau/Power BI preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage the transportation invoice process including receiving, tracking, and uploading invoices for payment by AP and liaising with 3rd party auditors.
• Assist in developing annual transportation budgets and forecasting models.
• Develop KPIs around transportation cost and perform root-cause analysis of monthly variances.
• Identify opportunities to streamline reporting and analysis for efficiency and cost savings.
• Leverage data visualization tools to present insights for actionable decisions.
• Participate in quarterly carrier performance reviews.
• Support and/or lead transportation projects from definition to implementation.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Who We Are Looking For

Transportation Analyst, Finance & Payables role will focus on all aspects of transportation spend management. This critical role will both ensure vendor invoicing is processed and paid in a timely manner and perform key audit and financial reporting activities to help senior management understand monthly transportation spend variances.

What You'll Be Doing

• Manage the transportation invoice process including receiving, tracking, and uploading invoices for payment by AP and acting as a liaison with 3rd party invoice auditing firms.
• Assist in developing annual transportation budgets including creating models to forecast costs and account for financial impacts of decisions.
• Develop and maintain appropriate key performance indicators around transportation cost and provide root‑cause analysis for monthly deviations from financial targets.
• Assist in identifying continuous improvement opportunities to streamline the reporting, and analysis of transportation data to drive efficiency and potential cost savings.
• Leverage data visualization tools to represent the data in a business‑friendly manner with the aim of generating actionable insights.
• Participate in quarterly carrier performance review sessions.
• Support Manager/Senior Transportation Specialist in conducting analysis on transportation activity; identifying and presenting opportunities/recommendations.
• Support and/or lead projects of varying size and complexity including problem definition, data collection/analytics, solution modeling, presentation, and implementation.
• Other related duties and special projects as required from time to time.

What You Bring

• University Degree in Business, Supply Chain Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Professional certification in Transportation or Logistics (CITT, PLog) preferred.

• Technological aptitude with advanced Excel skills is required along with proficiency in remainder of Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Oracle ERPs preferred.
• Knowledge of advanced data query tools (SQL, Access, Noetix) required.
• Familiarity with visual dashboarding and data management tools (Tableau, Power BI) strongly preferred.
• Highly effective communication skills (oral and written) coupled with strong presentation skills.
• Experience analyzing, manipulating, transforming, and interpreting large and complex datasets.
• Superior time management skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong sense of urgency.
• Self‑motivated, collaborative and team focused individual with the ability to work independently.
