Job summary

Fiera Capital seeks a Portfolio Operations Associate to support the client service team, traders, and PMs. You will reconcile cash balances (including foreign currencies), partners with custodians, and ensure accurate system entries while delivering high-quality service and supporting auditors.

The role requires strong attention to detail and teamwork. Based in Montreal, the position operates in a hybrid environment with in-office days.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of portfolio administration and reconciliation experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • CFA or Canadian Securities Course is an asset.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset; for Quebec roles French proficiency is preferred while English is needed for global collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate and communicate daily cash balances for investment to PMs/traders.
  • Daily reconciliation of cash, transactions and positions with custodians and counterparties.
  • Investigate discrepancies with external/internal partners and resolve promptly.
  • Ensure timely entry and reconciliation of transactions in the portfolio accounting system.
  • Prepare reconciliation and ad hoc reports; support audits and SLA adherence.

The candidate will update various systems used at Fiera Capital and will consistently manage relationships with various internal and external partners, to handle all reconciliation and cash management issues through to resolution.Your responsibilities:Calculate and communicate daily cash (including foreign currencies) balances available for investment to portfolio managers and tradersDaily reconciliation of cash, transactions and positions with custodians and other counterpartiesCollaborate with external counterparties and internal teams to investigate and quickly resolve discrepanciesEnsure that transactions are entered into the portfolio accounting system on time and reconciled accuratelyEnsure the accuracy and quality of information in the systemsPrepare reconciliation and other ad hoc reportsProvide exceptional service when interacting with internal and external contactsSupport internal and external auditors as requiredParticipate in the testing and implementation of operational improvements and special projectsAssist with ensuring service providers meet service level agreements (SLA) and ensure good governanceMust have requirements to be successful in this role:Minimum 1-3 years of relevant work experience in portfolio administration and reconciliation, or other applicable portfolio operations functionsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field is preferred, with consideration given to a combination of academic and relevant practical experience.Completion or pursuit of professional certifications, such as the Canadian Securities Course or CFA, is an assetUnderstanding how investment managers operate and interact with administrators, brokers and custodians is essentialStrong working knowledge of global markets, money market instruments, equities, bonds, and cash management principlesDemonstrated analytical thinking and experience solving business problemsA spirit of continuous process improvement and a positive team attitudeEffective communication skills (verbal and written)Attention to detail, intuitive and anticipatoryAbility to meet challenges and work under pressureBilingualism (English and French) is an assetAdditional Information:Fiera Capital adheres to a hybrid working environment with 4 days in-office per week.#LI-HybridWhat we offer:At Fiera Capital, we believe in investing in our people.
