Position Highlights

Investment Banking Analysts enjoy a stimulating and challenging environment where they execute a broad range of transactions. A high degree of responsibility is given to those demonstrating initiative and a desire to take on such responsibilities.

Early in their careers, Analysts focus on client presentations, financial modeling, and research. As they progress, they take on increased responsibilities in live transactions and participate in business development under senior guidance. Scotiabank introduces new Analysts to senior team members and clients early on, enabling them to gain experience in managing and cultivating relationships.

A significant amount of effort, diligence, and initiative is required to execute assignments properly. The complexity of clients’ financial requirements and the competitive nature of investment banking necessitate full commitment. Standards are very high, as most work is presented to senior executives at client firms, with supervision provided only as needed.

With a limited hierarchy and small project teams, Analysts have ample opportunities for career growth and development. On projects, Analysts interact with other departments such as Corporate Banking, Equity Capital Markets, Global Fixed Income, and Global Equity Derivatives, gaining comprehensive knowledge of investment banking and capital markets.

  • Identify and develop business opportunities with clients
  • Prepare client presentations, compiling data and assembling presentation materials
  • Assist in drafting prospectuses, related documentation, and marketing materials for transactions
  • Apply product and capital markets knowledge to help clients achieve their objectives
What You’ll Bring:
  • 1 to 2 years of capital markets, accounting, or financial valuation experience
    • Experience in Investment Banking or M&A is preferred
