Job summary

Porter Airlines Inc. in Toronto (YTZ) is seeking an AME Apprentice to support the Q400 fleet in a line maintenance environment.

Reporting to the Manager, Line Maintenance, you will troubleshoot, repair and install systems under guidance, dismantle and reassemble airframes and engines, and contribute to safety through the company’s SMS.

The role requires a college diploma in aircraft maintenance and a valid Ontario G license, with security clearances and screening as part of the process.

Qualifications

• Completion of secondary school is required.
• A college diploma in aircraft maintenance from a Transport Canada approved educational facility.
• Valid Ontario full "G" driver’s license (or out of province equivalent).
• Ability to obtain a Canadian Passport.
• Ability to obtain necessary security clearances.
• Successfully complete the company screening process.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair aircraft structural, mechanical or hydraulic systems per specs and manuals.
• Repair and overhaul aircraft systems.
• Install or modify engines and systems (mechanical, hydraulic, flight control, fuel, pneumatic).
• Dismantle airframes and engines for repair and cleaning, then reassemble.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance under guidance of a Lead ACA, ACA or AME.
• Actively participate in Porter’s SMS; report hazards and incidents; comply with safety policy.
• Assist on the ramp as required.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot aircraft structural, mechanical or hydraulic systems to identify problems and adjust and repair systems according to specifications, technical drawings, manuals and established procedures

• Repair and overhaul aircraft structural, mechanical or hydraulic systems

• Install or modify aircraft engines, mechanical, hydraulic, flight control, fuel and pneumatic systems

• Dismantle airframes, aircraft engines or other aircraft systems for repair, overhaul and cleaning, and reassemble

• Perform and document scheduled and unscheduled maintenance under the guidance of a Lead ACA, ACA or AME

• Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy

• Assist on the ramp as required
