The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the oldest student association in Canada and has been a central student organization at Queen's since its founding in 1858. Today, the AMS acts as a service, advocacy, and governing body on behalf of all students enrolled in AMS-affiliated programs at Queen's University.

The AMS is a not-for-profit entity created by the Society to ensure its continuing financial viability by overseeing the management of its services and associated financial affairs. It is bound by the By-laws and corporate philosophy of our Mission and Operating statements as set out in the AMS Constitution.

AMS Media Centre Purchasing and Productions Assistant Manager

Job Summary

The AMS Media Centre Purchasing and Productions Assistant Manager will, under the direction of the AMS Media Centre Head Manager, be responsible for the daily in-store tasks associated with the Media Centre. This includes purchasing stock, maintaining inventory, and troubleshooting various production machines and software.

The contracted hours for this role, under the discretion of the AMS Media Centre Head Manager, may be subject to increase to account for busy periods such as Convocation in Summer, staff training in Fall, and transition and training in Spring.

Job Duties
  • 30 hours/week May-mid September, 25 hours/week mid-September - April
  • Complete monthly inventory and provide summaries to the Head Manager, Marketing and Media Officer, and Accounting Assistant on the last day of each month, ensuring the reporting sheet has the correct quantities, and updating cost of goods as necessary.
  • Handle maintenance requests of all production equipment, contacting the necessary suppliers when needed for maintenance calls.
  • Monitor actual financial results against the approved budget in the organization accounting system (Business Central) each month, to track performance, approve all vendor invoices, and ensure proper payment.
  • Track all copyright production in the service and report to Access Copyright Canada.
  • Act as Copyright Officer for customer and staff inquiries and delegate graphic design commissions and page design to Graphics staff.
