Job summary

Crestline Coach Ltd. in Saskatoon, SK is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Designer to contribute to the design, development, testing, and launch of ambulance and specialty vehicle products.

You will work with cross-functional teams to create manufacturable, high-quality solutions from concept through production. The role emphasizes DFMA, collaboration with Production, Purchasing, Quality, Service, and Sales, and continuous improvement to enhance performance, efficiency, and safety.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Approximately five years of experience in product design, manufacturing, or related engineering environment preferred.
  • Experience designing products within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly, and value engineering principles.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software, preferably Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
  • Experience developing engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
  • Understanding of engineering change management and revision control processes.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Production, Supply Chain, Quality, or other operational teams.
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new products, features, and improvements meeting Crestline engineering standards and OEM specifications.
  • Create and maintain 3D models, drawings, BOMs, and other engineering documents.
  • Apply DFM and DFA principles to improve manufacturability, cost, and quality.
  • Collaborate with Production, Purchasing, Quality, Service, and Sales to develop design solutions.
  • Support prototype development, validation, testing, certification, and production launches.
  • Investigate production and service issues and develop corrective actions and design improvements.
  • Participate in project planning, requirements definition, and risk identification.

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
