AltaGas - Plant Operator - Pipestone

Reporting to the Operations Superintendent and mentored by senior operations personnel, the Operator will possess full working knowledge of equipment, gas operations, maintenance, and monitoring of facilities and pipelines under their control. The incumbent will be fully familiar with all aspects of gas plant operations, procedures for safety, troubleshooting, production logging, start-up, shutdown, and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Achieve the safe, efficient, and environmentally sound operations of all Pipestone Gas Gathering System equipment and connecting pipelines.
2. Provide quick identification and response to emergencies. Understand, abide by, and follow Emergency Response Procedures.
3. Work with the Senior Operator or Operations Team Lead to continually improve site-specific training, process safety management, and special projects, updating operating procedures by scheduled review or immediately if conditions require.
4. Respond to normal operations, adverse conditions, or serious situations using team members, management, or external expertise as required.
5. Ensure that all work activities comply with AltaGas’s guidelines, EH&S, codes of practice, and other policies, and address concerns immediately and notify Senior Operator or Operations Team Lead if required.
6. Troubleshoot process equipment and concerns, communicate and assist other outside operators when required.
7. Participate in pre-job and work permitting and be responsible for ensuring non-routine or high-risk jobs are reported to and approved by the Senior Operator or Operations Team Lead.
8. Prepare equipment for maintenance following all process and safety procedures, including lock out / tag out, personal protective equipment, and all environmental standards.
9. Ensure good housekeeping at all times and be responsible for cleaning areas that may present safety or environmental hazards.
10. Continuously improve skills and knowledge to enhance professional competence and effectively complete responsibilities.
11. Report any health, safety, security, environmental, or EHS management system incidents, concerns, or near misses. Record all non-conformances.
12. Assist the maintenance department in general maintenance tasks as needed.
13. Generate work orders for equipment repairs with the Senior Operator or Operations Team Lead to review. Enter Work Order requests in the Maximo system.
14. Maintain sensitive and confidential information regarding company operations.
15. Communicate effectively and confidentially with Pipestone Producers (customers) about nominated flows and curtailments.
16. Provide backup or relief for senior personnel during absences.

Qualifications:

• 1 to 3 years of experience in facility or pipeline operations.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn new software applications.
