Job summary

Job description

YVR - Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician

Position Overview

As a Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing mobile/portable equipment. Your duties include diagnostics, mechanical overhauls, and maintenance of specialized and heavy-duty equipment such as fire trucks, winter runway trucks, sweepers, chemical application vehicles, mowers, and trucks with diesel and gas engines.

You will join a team of technicians, apprentices, and planners managing an inventory of over 350 pieces of response and heavy equipment designed for the airport environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair emergency rescue and operations vehicles, including fire trucks and response light vehicles
  • Maintain summer and winter operation vehicles and equipment
  • Maintain specialty equipment and tooling
  • Plan, schedule, and organize work activities
  • Lead activities and share knowledge with apprentices
Key Qualifications
  • Three years' recent, relevant experience
  • Red Seal or BC Trade Qualification in Truck or Transport Mechanic or Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Valid BC driver's license (Class 1 or 3 preferred)
Additional Details

The shift schedule is primarily 4/4 dayshift, with 24/7 winter operations. Shift and weekend premiums may apply.

This position is open to both internal and external applicants. Short-listed candidates may undergo assessments.

Salary Range

$78,654 to $102,802 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
