Job summary

Administration régionale Kativik (ARK) is seeking an Airport Maintainer in Kuujjuaraapik to operate and maintain heavy equipment, and oversee runways, taxiways, and airport grounds. You will also perform minor repairs and complete administrative reports, reporting to the Airport Manager.

The role requires minimal experience in a relevant field, a valid driver’s license, basic Microsoft skills, and bilingual capabilities in Inuktitut, English, or French. Occasional overtime may be required.

AIRPORT MAINTAINER (Permanent Full-time)

Reporting to the Airport Manager and working closely with other KRG employees and airport users, the successful incumbent will operate and maintain in good order all department equipment including grader, loader, and other heavy and light equipment. Responsibilities will include ongoing maintenance of runway, taxiway, aprons, service roads and airport grounds as well as minor equipment and building repairs and the completion of administrative reports. More specific responsibilities include:



  • Operates heavy and light equipment in a safe and effective manner;

  • Maintenance of runway surfaces, maneuvering areas and airport access roads;

  • Maintains airport grounds and navigational aids;

  • Performs minor maintenance and repairs to equipment and airport buildings;

  • Participates in all Site Programs;

  • Prepares and submits daily, weekly and monthly documentation;

  • Perform any other duties as required.


REQUIREMENTS


  • Minimal experience in a relevant field of activity or knowledge of heavy equipment operations and maintenance;

  • Valid driver’s license;


MUST BE ABLE TO


  • Learning Basic computer skills in a Microsoft environment;

  • Obtaining (or have) a restricted radio operator’s certificate;

  • Completing the necessary paperwork;

  • Written and oral working knowledge of at least two (2) of the following languages: Inuktitut, English and French;

  • Knowledge of Safety, First Aid and Fire prevention would be an asset

  • Work overtime as required.

PRÉPOSÉ À L’ENTRETIEN DE L’AÉROPORT (Poste permanent à temps plein)

Relevant du Manager de l’aéroport du Service des transports de l’ARK et travaillant en étroite collaboration avec d’autres employés de l’ARK et les usagers des aéroports, le candidat retenu conduira et maintiendra en bon état de fonctionnement tous les véhicules du Service des transports de l’ARK, incluant des niveleuses, des chargeuses et d’autres équipements lourds et légers. Il lui incombera également d’assurer l’entretien continu des pistes d’atterrissage, des voies de circulation, des aires de trafic, des voies de service et des terrains des aéroports ainsi que d’effectuer des réparations mineures aux équipements et aux bâtiments et de produire des rapports administratifs. Plus précisément, le candidat retenu devra s’acquitter des tâches suivantes :



  • Conduire des équipements lourds et des véhicules légers de manière sécuritaire et efficace;

  • Entretenir la surface des pistes d’atterrissage, des aires de manœuvre et des voies d’accès des aéroports;

  • Entretenir les terrains de l’aéroport et les aides à la navigation;

  • Effectuer l’entretien et des réparations mineures aux équipements et aux bâtiments aéroportuaires;

  • Participer à tous les programmes des aéroports;

  • Rédiger et soumettre quotidiennement, hebdomadairement et mensuellement de la documentation;

  • Exécuter toute autre tâche, au besoin.


EXIGENCES


  • Compter au moins deux années d’expérience dans un domaine pertinent ou connaître les méthodes d’entretien des équipements lourds;

  • Être titulaire d’un permis de conduire valide;

  • Avoir une connaissance pratique de base des logiciels de Microsoft;

  • Posséder ou être admissible à obtenir un certificat restreint d’opérateur radio;

  • Posséder des connaissances pratiques, tant à l’oral qu’à l’écrit, d’au moins deux des langues suivantes: inuktitut, anglais ou français;

  • Avoir de l’expérience dans la rédaction de documents;

  • La connaissance de la sécurité, des premiers soins et de la prévention des incendies sera considérée comme un atout.
