Job summary

Unifi Aviation Canada, Inc. is seeking a Baggage Supervisor in Calgary to oversee daily bagroom operations and staff coordination with airline partners, daily shift planning, and safety compliance. The role emphasizes performance metrics, guest experience, and employee engagement.

Qualified candidates will lead teams, mentor staff, and ensure proper equipment use, inspections, and incident documentation while supporting a positive work environment and career growth.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent education.
• Must be able to obtain a fully cleared Restricted Area Identification Card.
• Must be able to obtain a YYC D/A AVOP.
• Possess a valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily manpower allocation in bagrooms to ensure smooth operation.
• Assign GSE to bagroom drivers and ensure proper charging.
• Coach and mentor employees while enforcing company policies and procedures.
• Write daily shift notes and record agent conversations related to incidents.
• Investigate and report missed bags and baggage issues.
• Coordinate with airline partners on baggage-related matters.
• Ensure pre-operational inspections for all equipment used during shifts are completed.
• Enforce safety policy compliance and PPE usage in the bag room.
• Review assigned ULDs and complete uplift requests as needed.
• Conduct quality inspections and oversee bagroom operations.
• Communicate performance feedback to airline management and propose solutions.

Job Summary:

The Baggage Supervisor team will work closely with our Airline Partners, Duty Managers, fellow Supervisors, Crew Chiefs, and Agents to ensure our operational performance metrics are met. There is a strong emphasis on safety, operational excellence, MBR, guest experience, and employee engagement.

Job Duties:

• Manage daily allocation of manpower in the bagrooms to ensure smooth operation.

• Collaborate with our airline partners on anythingbaggage-related.
• EnsurePre-Operational Inspections for all equipment used during the shift are completed.
• Enforced safety policy compliance and proper PPE in the bag room.
• Review assigned ULDs, and complete uplift requests as required.
• Conduct quality inspections.
• Oversee and coordinates the operation in the bagroom.
• Responsible for ensuring direction is provided with challenges impacting baggage, baggage scanning, NCB, AVI, USCBP recalls, CBSA recalls, Missed Baggage Ratio.
• Participate in staff briefings with the bagroom teams at the start of every shift, outlining any challenges andopportunities.
• Communicate operational performance feedback to the airline's management team and provide solutions to facilitate effective solutions.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent education.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to obtain a fully cleared Restricted Area Identification Card.
• Must be able to obtain a YYC D/A AVOP.
• Possess a valid Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications:

• One + year of experience in aviation ground operations.
• Strong understanding of aviation regulations and safety standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.

Physical requirements:

• Must be able to frequently lift, greater than 70lbs and constantly lift up to 70 lbs; Constantly push, pull up to 70 lbs; and constantly walk, stand, reach above shoulder, climb, crawl, stoop, squat, kneel, & bend.

Working conditions:

• Must be able to work in rotating shifts and hours, nights, weekends and holidays, overtime.
• Must be able and open to work in outside weather conditions which may include severe seasonal elements.
