Job summary

RWDI is seeking an Air Quality Scientist Engineer to join our Calgary, AB office. This permanent full-time role will focus on planning and executing air dispersion modelling, emission inventories, and data analysis to support projects across buildings, industry and infrastructure.

You will liaise with clients, prepare technical reports, and contribute to greenhouse gas verifications and investigation work. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering or science and has experience

  • Familiarity with air dispersion modelling, emission inventories, greenhouse gas verifications, and ambient data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Support greenhouse gas verifications and emission inventory development.
  • Write technical reports presenting methodology, results and recommendations.

Reporting To: David Horrocks

Compensation: CA$50,000 - CA$85,000 / year

RWDI is seeking an Air Quality Scientist Engineer to join our Air Quality Team in our Calgary, AB office.

Key Responsibilities

This technical role includes but is not limited to:

  • Planning and completing technical aspects of assigned projects, including data collection, analysis, and ensuring QA/QC procedures are followed.
  • Conducting air dispersion modelling and meteorological data processing
  • Conducting engineering and scientific estimation calculations for emission rates
  • Supporting greenhouse gas verifications and emission inventory development/reporting
  • Working to strict schedules and project milestones while maintaining product quality
  • Writing technical reports that present methodology, results and recommendations
  • Performing site visits and participating in client meetings
  • Complying with all applicable health and safety procedures and guidelines
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

We are accepting applications from candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related engineering/science disciplines, with advanced degrees an asset
  • Familiarity with air dispersion modelling, emission inventories, greenhouse gas verifications, and/or ambient data analysis

Candidates should also possess:

  • Excellent written, listening and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work on a number of projects at once and successfully meet deadlines
  • Strong people and team skills
  • Drive to continuously improve processes and enhance efficiency
  • Exceptional organizational capabilities and a methodical approach
  • Ability to travel occasionally for site visits and other project requirements

Experience in the following areas would be considered an asset:

  • AERMOD and CALPUFF dispersion modelling
  • Greenhouse gas quantification or verification
  • Command line programming in Linux

Basic understanding of programming in R, Python and Excel VBA
