Job summary

Summit Kids in Calgary invites an Aide to join the WHCA Campus to support a designated child with special needs aged 6–12. You will assist with daily routines, encourage participation in activities, and help maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Experience with ADHD/ASD, Alberta Childcare Certification Level 1, and a clear criminal record are required. Hours align with the child’s presence on site; competitive hourly pay and staff events accompany the role.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with school-aged children between 6-12 years.
  • Experience with ADHD, ASD and other limitations.
  • Alberta Childcare Certification Level 1.
  • Clear and valid criminal record check with vulnerable sector in the last 6 months.
  • Valid First Aid Certification.
  • Hours of work are directly tied to the presence of their assigned charge.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one support to a designated child with special or additional needs.
  • Assist the child in daily routines and activities, including arrival, departure, snack time, outdoor play, and washroom routines.
  • Support the child’s participation in group activities and encourage social interaction with peers.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for the child and others.
  • Observe and document the child’s progress and communicate observations to the supervising staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to adapt activities to meet the needs of the child when required.
  • Create a safe, happy, and fun learning environment for our children
  • Proactively provide guidance and support for holistic child development
  • Engage & build positive & respectful relationships with our staff, families and the community by creating trust and always acting with integrity.
  • Ensure that the center facilities are always safe for our children and help the Campus Lead to strictly comply to licensing standards at all times
  • Act with compassion while upholding Summit Kids policies and standards.

We are looking for anAideto join our team at ourWHCA Campus (1940 6 Ave NW, Calgary).

To be a successful candidate for this position, you must possess Alberta Childcare Certification Level 1 & have prior experience working with special needs children between 6 to 12 years of age.

Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with school-aged children between the ages of 6-12 years.
  • Previous experience working with children with ADHD, ASD and other limitations.
  • Prior experience as a behaviour interventionist/ Child & Youth worker is an asset.
  • Education in the fields of Psychology or Behavioural Intervention will be an asset
  • Clear & Valid criminal record check with vulnerable sector, taken in the last 6 months.
  • Valid First Aid Certification.
  • Hours of work are directly tied to the presence of their assigned charge; the Aide is only scheduled during the hours their charge is present on site.
Compensation Includes:
  • Competitive Pay (The Aide is compensated at a flat hourly rate and is not eligible for wage enhancement)
