Job summary

Connect Tech Inc. is seeking a hands-on co-op student to work at the intersection of AI software and embedded hardware. You will contribute to prototypes, internal research, and customer-facing demonstrations, benchmarking, and deployment workflows with cameras, sensors and robotics platforms.

Ideal candidates are curious, quick learners and able to turn emerging AI tech into reliable hardware-enabled systems. Strong Python/C++ skills and Linux experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a technical program with interest in AI, robotics and embedded hardware.
  • Solid programming fundamentals in Python and/or C++.
  • Experience with Linux, Git, and shell scripting helpful.
  • Foundational ML/vision concepts and robotics basics expected.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to technical prototypes and internal research.
  • Assist with customer-facing demonstrations and benchmarking.
  • Support deployment workflows involving cameras, sensors, and robotics platforms.
  • Document findings and communicate results to the team.

Job description

CTai LABS is Connect Tech’s applied AI engineering group focused on bringing advanced Artificial Intelligence workloads out of the cloud and into real-world edge systems. Our work spans Physical AI, Agentic AI, computer vision, robotics, multimodal models, and optimized deployment on NVIDIA Jetson platforms.

We are looking for a hands-on co-op student who is excited to work at the intersection of AI software and embedded hardware. You will contribute to technical prototypes, internal research, customer-facing demonstrations, benchmarking, and deployment workflows involving cameras, sensors, robotics platforms, and modern AI models.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys experimenting, debugging, learning quickly, and turning emerging AI technology into systems that actually run reliably on hardware.

Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related program.
  • Strong programming fundamentals, preferably in Python and/or C++.
  • Comfort working in Linux environments, including command-line tools, AI agent harnesses, package management, Git, and basic shell scripting.
  • Foundational understanding of machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, computer vision, and robotics concepts.
  • Ability to independently investigate technical problems, test ideas, document findings, and communicate results clearly.
  • Willingness to work with physical hardware including embedded systems, cameras, sensors, GPUs, networking equipment, and robotic platforms.
Qualifications and Expected Skills:
  • Experience with PyTorch, ONNX, vLLM, OpenCV, HuggingFace, or similar AI/ML/Serving frameworks.
  • Exposure to NVIDIA Jetson, CUDA-X stack, TensorRT, DeepStream SDK, or GPU-accelerated inference.
  • Experience with ROS2, Isaac ROS, Isaac Sim, SLAM/VSLAM, navigation (Nav2), robotic arms (MoveIt2), or sensor integration is a strong asset.
  • Interest in LLMs, VLMs, VLAs/WAMs, RAG, AI agents, multimodal systems, or local model deployment.
  • Familiarity with Docker, REST APIs, networking, camera streams (RTSP/HTTP, GMSL, USB, etc.).
  • Familiarity with benchmarking model performance such as latency, throughput, GPU utilization, memory usage, and power consumption.
  • Ability to write clear technical documentation and present experimental results to engineering teams.
  • Curiosity about emerging AI technologies and the judgment to distinguish impressive demos from solutions that can survive production.
