Job summary

Guidewire Software in Mississauga, Canada, seeks a Software Engineer to build scalable, AI-enhanced solutions for the property and casualty domain. You will join a lean, cross-functional team delivering high-quality software with strong tests and observability.

As part of PDO's shift toward AI-driven development, you will use AI-native coding approaches and AI-assisted tools to accelerate delivery while upholding engineering standards, security, and reliability.

Qualifications

• Minimum 0 - 2+ years of Software Development experience, preferably in SaaS or cloud solutions.
• Proficiency in Core Java, and good working knowledge of the Spring framework
• Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python
• Experience building microservices on cloud service platforms (e.g. AWS/GCP/Azure) – AWS preferred
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker and Kubernetes)
• Experience designing REST or gRPC based APIs
• Ability to use AI-assisted coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development while exercising strong judgment around code quality, testing, and security
• Good understanding of Object-Oriented Design principles
• Understanding of relational database persistence (e.g. MySQL, Oracle); familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, CouchDB) is a plus
• Great understanding of CI/CD and DevOps principles; experience with related tools such as TeamCity, Git-based workflows, or Kubernetes is a definite plus
• Experience with LLMs, LangChain, and/or AI patterns such as RAG or ReAct is a plus
• Exposure to AI/ML development patterns such as prompt engineering or integrating AI services into production systems is a plus
• BS/MS degree (Computer Science or related field)

Responsibilities

• Build, refactor, and extend Guidewire's services quickly and safely while maintaining high engineering standards, tests, and observability
• Embed GenAI across Guidewire products to improve operations and customer outcomes
• Collaborate in a lean, empowered, cross-functional team and communicate effectively
• Support AI-driven development initiatives in a cloud-based SaaS environment
